Kristjan started his career as a community activities
coordinator in Tartu back in 2010. His early work focused on
general wellness programs for seniors, but something shifted
when he witnessed how dance transformed not just people's
physical health — but their entire social world. He's seen quiet
retirees become confident performers. He's watched isolated
seniors build genuine friendships through weekly dance socials.
That's what drives him.
He specialized in developing structured dance curricula tailored
for older adults with varying mobility levels. Bachata. Salsa.
Ballroom. Not just the steps, but the culture, the music, the
joy. Over the past decade, he's built real partnerships with
cultural institutions across Tallinn and Tartu. His monthly
dance socials now draw 50-80 participants per event. He's
trained 12 professional instructors in age-appropriate teaching
methods — because teaching a 65-year-old isn't the same as
teaching a 25-year-old.
Kristjan holds a degree in Social Work from Tartu University,
which shaped his belief that recreation isn't just activity —
it's about dignity, connection, and belonging. He's coordinated
over 200 community events across Estonia, directly engaging more
than 3,500 active retirees. His work isn't confined to one city.
He's consulted with senior centers from Narva to Pärnu, always
asking the same question: How do we make culture and movement
accessible to everyone?
Today at folvera OÜ, he curates evidence-based resources and
guides for seniors seeking quality leisure activities throughout
Estonia. He draws on his extensive network, his hands-on
experience with hundreds of retiree groups, and his genuine
belief that the best years aren't behind you — they're happening
right now if you know where to look.
